Banned Items / Prohibited Listings

To keep The Aviary Hub safe and lawful, the following are prohibited unless the Platform expressly permits them and all legal requirements are met:

  • Dogs and horses (not currently part of this marketplace);
  • unlawfully held, bred, imported, captured, or traded animals;
  • protected wildlife traded unlawfully, or any species whose sale is restricted or prohibited under Irish, EU, or CITES law, unless the seller holds and can provide all required documentation;
  • stolen animals or goods, or animals/items believed to be misrepresented;
  • animals advertised for fighting, baiting, or cruelty;
  • sick or injured animals where transfer would be unlawful or harmful;
  • pregnant animals, or animals advertised as pregnant, expecting, or carrying young;
  • animals below the minimum age for their species – see our Animal Welfare Policy for details;
  • swaps, trades, or exchanges of animals or items – sales on The Aviary Hub must be for cash/payment, not barter;
  • fraudulent, copied, or fake listings, or counterfeit goods;
  • illegal drugs, or unlawfully supplied prescription/veterinary medicines;
  • hazardous substances or prohibited weapons;
  • pornography or sexual services;
  • hate or extremist material;
  • sale of personal data, fake documents, pyramid schemes, or financial scams;
  • deceptive deposits or phishing links;
  • recalled or unsafe products, or goods that infringe intellectual-property rights;
  • duplicate spam listings;
  • listings that breach our Animal Welfare Policy;
  • any item or activity otherwise prohibited by Irish or EU law.

Restrictions may also apply to: pet food and supplements, veterinary products, live transport, imported animals, species requiring registration/permits/identification, commercial pet sellers, and products subject to safety or age restrictions.

This list is not exhaustive and may be updated. Sellers must check the law before listing – platform acceptance of a listing does not prove it is legal. If you’re unsure whether something can be listed, check the official guidance for that species or contact us before posting.
