Responsible Rehoming Policy

Rehoming an animal on The Aviary Hub must prioritise the animal’s welfare above all else.

A rehoming advert should explain:

  • the genuine reason for rehoming;
  • age and sex;
  • health and veterinary history;
  • behaviour and social needs;
  • housing requirements;
  • diet;
  • compatibility with other animals, children, or specific home environments;
  • identification or registration details, where applicable;
  • any ongoing cost or specialist care the animal needs.

Users must not disguise commercial selling as rehoming. A reasonable rehoming contribution may be requested where lawful and clearly stated, but it must not be used deceptively or as a way to circumvent our advert-fee or trader-disclosure rules.

The current keeper should reasonably assess the prospective new home and provide relevant records, equipment, and transition information where appropriate, to give the animal the best chance of a stable placement.
