DAFM Information

Some sellers on The Aviary Hub may be legally required to register with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) before selling pets.

  • Some sellers may legally need to register with DAFM.
  • Anyone selling or supplying six or more pet animals in a calendar year may be required to register under applicable Irish rules – we keep an internal count towards this threshold per seller, across all qualifying categories.
  • Official DAFM registration itself is free.
  • Registration supports animal welfare and traceability.
  • The Aviary Hub may request legally required seller and animal information, and may restrict listings until it is supplied.
  • The Aviary Hub does not grant DAFM approval, and does not confirm that a seller is compliant merely because an advert is published.

Poultry

Poultry listings require a valid Poultry Keeper / Flock Number before publishing. This is provided by the seller and is not independently verified by The Aviary Hub – you remain responsible for holding any registration that applies to you.

Birds of Prey and Parrots

Some birds of prey and some parrot species are listed under CITES and/or EU Wildlife Trade Regulations, which can require documentation before sale or transfer. The Aviary Hub does not currently operate an automated documentation-verification system for these categories, so listings in Birds of Prey and Parrots are held for manual review before publishing. You remain responsible for holding whatever CITES/NPWS documentation applies to your specific animal.

Note: dogs are not a permitted category on this Platform, so dog-specific advertising requirements (such as microchip information) do not apply here. Sellers of any permitted species remain responsible for meeting whatever species-specific advertising information the law requires.
